Love is power
The world is socially unsettled just now. Folks are doing and saying hateful things. We’re encouraged to take sides, to be against something or someone.
This separation consciousness can be contagious. When someone attacks someone or something we care about, we feel defensive. We want to lash out in retaliation in order to have some power over the situation.
And yes, it is important to stand up for what we believe is right and important. The key word in the previous sentence is “for.” It’s quite meaningful to be for something rather than against something. In other words, it’s vital to place our attention and energy on what we want rather than what we don’t want.
When we focus on what and whom we love, we are directing ourselves toward what we want. When our goals care for ourselves and all others, they are loving. When we express this love in our words and actions, we claim power for ourselves, the power to create good.
Today’s message reminds me to exercise the power of my love freely. When love impels me, I’m always headed in the right direction.
Please reflect and share. How does love give you power?
