Hobbylicious
We all likely know hobbies are good for us. Someone of us engage at least somewhat regularly in hobbies. Others of us do not.
We, for the most part, understand the value of hard work. But we may not recognize the importance of playing hard too.
That doesn’t mean our hobbies necessarily should involve physical exertion. Maybe strenuous activity is good for us personally and maybe it isn’t.
What is important is that we regularly devote time to play, to activities we find pleasurable, relaxing, and exciting in a good way. We need a break from what we do to earn a living to engage in what we do for fun.
It can be helpful if our hobbies engage another portion of us that isn’t necessarily flexed by our profession. If we work hard physically, we might like to create art, do puzzles, or do yoga. If our career is deskbound, we may wish to engage in sports, dance, or gardening—something to get us moving.
Today’s message advises me of the value of devoting time to my hobbies. Using my free time (and I may need to carve this time out in my schedule in a dedicated way) to enrich and round out my knowledge, interests, and abilities helps make me a better and overall more effective individual.
Please reflect and share. What hobbies do you enjoy?
