Gratitude keeps it flowing.
Each of us experiences blessings, often small but also sometimes large, every day. The same is true of difficulties. Issues minor and major crop us for us each day, too.
Somehow, the problems seem to stay with us longer. We’re more likely to brush past small bonuses without a thought, while hanging on to small hardships. The memory of savoring a good cup of coffee is likely fleeting. We’re more apt to remember spilling a cup of coffee for a while.
This is also true of larger scale events. Big blessings may not leave as lasting an impression in our memories as big problems.
It’s unfortunate but true. We seem to be wired to hang onto the bad. But we can change this propensity if we’re willing to put in a little bit of effort. When we consciously take the time—at least 15 seconds or so—to savor small miracles, we imprint them in our memories more firmly. With larger blessings, if we choose to celebrate with gusto, we also etch them into our mind for a lasting effect.
This is where gratitude comes in. The act of being grateful and feeling it deep inside of ourselves, helps us change the way our minds work. We can rewire ourselves to have a more positive focus.
Gratitude also sends a strong signal to the creative/generative force of the universe. “Hey, I really like and appreciate this. Please send more!”
Today’s message is a gentle reminder to me to keep the gratitude coming. When I keep my gratitude alive and fluid, good things flow to me more naturally and I feel happier and more satisfied, too.
Please reflect and share. Do you consciously practice gratitude?
