Invest yourself in abundance

We might think of investment as devoting financial assets toward a goal. Or we might broaden our scope to consider investment of other assets like materials or our labor.

But we may not deem our free time as an asset. And this is one of the most precious things we have, in terms of the potential for making our lives happier and healthier.

It can be educational to roughly track how and on what we spend our free time. If we track this for a week and then average it out per day, we can see a clear picture of what we prioritize by our actions.

Not surprisingly, this may not align with what we might state our goals would be. We likely would like to be healthier, fitter/slimmer, more well-read, and closer to family and friends. But our use of free time may not support this.

When we define abundance as having plenty of a variety of things—money, health on all levels, enjoyment, strong relationships, peace of mind, spiritual connection—we can see that there are probably many ways we can invest our time to support abundance in our lives. And that optimal time investment may not match up with our current activities.

Today’s message reminds to invest my time wisely, in ways that will improve my quality of life. My free time is my most precious resource. It is prudent to use it effectively.

Please reflect and share. Do you use your free time well?
