NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 579

Our actions are impelled by what drives us the hardest.

Please reflect and share. How does this play out for you?

We do things for a variety of reasons. Passion, curiosity, duty, guilt, and commitment all can drive our deeds. Sometimes we have conflicting motivations, but one will supersede another.

When we do have warring impulses, our beliefs and values will push one to the forefront. We may feel the strong desire to pursue a dream but forego it out of a sense of duty. Or a strong passion can cause us to ignore a commitment. What we choose in these circumstances reveals our interior motives, what drives us.

Today’s message invites me to pay attention to what and how I decide when I feel torn between options. If I feel unhappy about my choices, I may need to examine whether my motivations are in my best interests. Being honest with myself about why I do what I do will bring me clarity and freedom.

How about you? How do you decide when you’re conflicted?
