Notes From The Awareness: 316

Perfection is boredom.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. We all search for perfection one way or another—the perfect partner, the perfect job, the perfect meal, the perfect performance, the perfect cup of coffee. We’ve all striven to do or have something exactly right and mostly we’ve failed. and that’s the point.

Perceived perfection is fleeting. Our partners aren’t always the way we wish them to be; our jobs sometimes suck; our coffee usually is a bit off. That’s okay and the way things should be. If things felt precisely perfect at all times, nothing would change, nothing would be fresh and new. Only the temporary nature of perfection makes it satisfying.

Today’s message reminds me that the things I see as flaws in life keep things stimulating. A series of adequate meals make an astounding one an occasion of intense enjoyment for me. I savor things that seem perfect to me because they stand out against the rest of my life. Imperfection is the flavor enhancer in my existence.

How about you? How do you relate to perfection?
