Power comes unbidden when you least expect it; it comes from inside.
Please discuss. How does this play out in life?
I’ll start us out. 2020 has sideswiped us all, leaving us feeling wanting. We keenly perceive our own and society’s inadequacies. There’s a longing for some great force—deus ex machina—to descend and save us from what we have generated. Our yearning is pinned on the elite we’ve designated to wield social power for us, our politicians. We hope, somewhat jadedly, that they will right our social wrongs, make the virus—when did COVID-19 achieve superstar status and become “the virus” rather than just a virus?—go away, fix our economy, find us all good jobs, heal our political divide. We want the nature of our personal world to shift to something safer, healthier, fairer, and more prosperous and we’re looking for an outside force to make it happen.
Today’s message reminds me that my only real power comes from universal love, from my connection in the divine that resides inside me, my sharing within. Paradoxically, I may have most direct access to this power, at least initially, when I feel beaten down and broken in life. In an emotionally and spiritually vulnerable state, my self-imposed barriers are more porous; it’s easier for me to consciously connect with the divine. I can also willingly access the power of universal love at any time. I don’t need to wait until I’m miserable. The intrinsic connection is always there inside me, waiting to be consciously acknowledged. Everything I need to transform my world is right inside me.
How about you? How to you relate to personal power?
