Notes From The Furlough: Day 33

Flexibility is the key to mastering change.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. COVID-19 has been all about change, for me and for most of us. Many thing are in flux—health, family activities, future travel and social events, finances—to name a few. For me right now, there is more that I don’t know than I do know. Sometimes it is a bit overwhelming.

The issue is that I feel safer with a known quantity. My life up until recently wasn’t perfect, but it was familiar and comfortable and I knew how to manage it fairly well. Now with many things in flux, I’m not always sure what my best response to events are. I’m having to wing it more than I’m used to. Today’s message reminds me that I will need to change, and change, and change again,. There is no one set course I can chart to navigate through the uncertainty. I will need to make adjustments—large and small—all along the way. It will help if I encourage my sense of adventure.

How about you? What possible changes are you facing, and how are you handling the uncertainty?
