Out of our way

Sometimes, we may feel our lives aren’t as we might hope they would be. We can feel disappointed, discouraged, or even cheated.

We may have our own personal theories about why things are the way they are. Or we may feel clueless, but simply wish they were different.

Often, we may assume that outside forces are what’s in the way of our dreams and desires. Less frequently, we may consider that we—our beliefs, attitudes, actions/inactions, and choices—are possible impediments.

Yet, this is far too often the case. That’s not to say we’re bad people or don’t deserve what we want. It just indicates that we may not be fully aware of how we get in the way of our goals.

When we aren’t achieving what we hope to, it helps to take a step back and re-evaluate the situation. Part of this pondering involves identifying roadblocks and potential solutions to them. Certainly, we’ll look at outside influences. But we’ll also won’t to consider how we might be out of alignment with our dreams or how we may self-sabotage.

Today’s message invites me to use the quiet and internal time of fall and winter to ponder how I do or don’t align with what I want. When I get out of my own way, it’s much easier for me to succeed and be happy.

Please reflect and share. Do you ever get in your own way?
