Enjoy the season!
Most of us are busy with last-minute preparation for the holidays. We may be procuring gifts, baking treats, shopping for holiday meals, or sending off packages and greeting cards.
We likely want everything to be perfect. Our home should look like a photo from Pinterest. The food we prepare should be beautifully presented and tasty (and hopefully zero calorie too).
In all the striving, it’s easy to forget why we’re doing all these things. Our real goal is to help others and ourselves be happy during the holidays, while honoring the spiritual significance of the season. We won’t be able to do that if we’re stressing about details.
Today’s message reminds me that the goodness of the holidays is about the spirit of love. If I burn a holiday dish, it will still be cooked with caring. An imperfectly wrapped present will still be gifted with love. The true spirit of the holidays for me should be more about the how than the what.
Please reflect and share. How might relaxing your holiday expectations bring you and others more joy?
