Pursue something new.

It’s easy to stick with the familiar. We know what to expect and how to handle it. We’ve likely even developed some competency. What we know may not be as exciting as it once was, but it often feels safe.

Doing something new can seem risky. We might not like it. We might suck at it. Learning certainly will be involved. The prospect might make us feel anxious.

Yet, whatever our absolute favorite activity is, it once was new and unfamiliar. We had to learn to love it. If we avoid new experiences out of fear, we may miss out on great pleasure. Imagine being afraid to take a first ever taste of chocolate…

Today’s message suggests I can benefit from some experimentation. New activities can help me develop new abilities and fresh joys.

Please reflect and share. What new thing are you willing to try?
