Circumstances are trying largely because of our reactions.
Please reflect and share. How does this play out in your life?
At any given time, we’re likely involved in at least one vexing condition. Sometimes several occur at once, taxing our ability to cope. We may struggle and resist, resenting the need to deal with the situation(s).
While we’re trying to handle things, we may feel put upon, stressed, angry, or victimized. Things feel heavy. And they are, because we’ve added the weight our our negative emotions and resistance to the encumbrance of the issues. Our reactions get in the way of handling the problems smoothly and matter-of-factly.
Today’s message reminds me that I only make things harder on myself when I react negatively to challenging situations. Being calm, neutral, and collected—or at least as much as possible—will lighten the load of the issue. Resistance and resentment only punish me. Dispassion is my friend in trying times.
How about you? Do you struggle emotionally with life’s challenges?
