Notes From The Awareness: 249

What we have done is not as important as what we are doing now.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. It’s easy to get caught up in our past. Old mistakes and accomplishments can readily overshadow the present. We can get lost in reminiscence or regret. This backward focus can prevent us from experiencing current joys and recognizing opportunities in front of us.

We can’t go back in time and undo previous errors. We can ensure we don’t repeat them now. Basking in the glow of prior achievements may feel good, but prolonged focus on what we have done takes away our ability to make good things happen right now.

Today’s message advises me to keep my focus current. Reliving things is an activity in which I will only want to indulge briefly. The only time in which I have the ability to act is now.

How about you? How do you stay focused in the present?
