Yesterday and today are the same day, as is tomorrow. When there is no concept of time, nothing is ever overdue or late. Take a breath, or several days’ worth of breaths. In a single instant, lifetimes occur. There is no race to spiritual success.

We tend to be hard on ourselves. If we’re following a spiritual path, perhaps we’re even harder on ourselves. We want to be better people. We wish to think and behave lovingly. We hope to understand the spiritual nature of reality and live accordingly.
We want to advance spiritually, and we usually are certain that we aren’t progressing as quickly as we’d like. Somehow it seems that everyday life gets in the way of our spiritual progress. If only we didn’t have to deal with messy situations and other people, we’d feel enlightened faster and far more often.
Two concepts trip us up here. First, separation consciousness causes us to think that we and others are separate from each other and the divine. If we’re separate, we’re incomplete and therefore flawed. Our belief in separation makes us, others, and our lives feel broken and in need of fixing.
Second, we believe in the idea of time, or temporal consciousness. We use time in third-dimensional reality to help us make comparisons: now or then, better or worse, enlightened or unevolved. Time helps us to find ourselves and others wanting, because it allows us believe that we or others might be improved at some point in the future.
In eternal reality, all beings and things are interconnected by divine loving consciousness—the sharing. By our intrinsic conjoined nature, we are all equal and perfect exactly as we are. We don’t need to take steps to make ourselves worthy.
We cannot save or damn ourselves by our actions. There are no mistakes—only choices—and we are always free to choose differently. We are perfect and beloved expressions of an infinite loving consciousness, contributing to the experience of the whole by through our choices. In divine reality, it’s all good.
Let’s take a few minutes to connect consciously with the divinity within ourselves—our sharing within—to explore feeling complete and perfect, outside of time. We will begin by focusing on our breath. We’ll let it slow down and become regular and even.
As we do so, we will picture our inner divinity as a sphere of golden light in the center of our chest. Every inhalation makes the light strong and bright. Every exhalation circulates golden light from the sphere throughout our body and environment. Our breath feeds the ball of light; it is never depleted.
We will continue to focus on our breath and the golden light until we feel calm, relaxed, and clear. This is our signal of conscious connection with our sharing within.
As we continue to breathe out the golden light from our heart region, we will see it flow from us in waves of loving consciousness. Our awareness travels out with the light and personal boundaries begin to dissolve. Our loving golden heart light connects us with everyone and everything.
Every breath relaxes our sense of self. We feel ourselves merging with others who also are carried on the wave of golden light consciousness. Knowingness floods through us, borne on the light. The intimate connection with everyone and everything imparts a sense of homecoming.
In this safe and somehow familiar sensation, there is only the divine WE. All is perfect and beautiful in the eternal now. There is no need to do anything but be and enjoy. Happiness and gratitude is our natural state. We will bask in the sensation and breathe.
Whenever we feel ready, we will allow our divine interconnected awareness to focus on one expression of itself, the one we have thought of as us. We’ll see the golden light ebbing back into the center of our chest and let our consciousness seat itself there.
We will be aware of our individuality once again, while retaining the sense of peace and connection in our heart. We have experienced existence outside of separation and temporal consciousness. We’ll retain our sense of the goodness and perfection inherent in all creation. In this and every moment we perceive, we and all of life are beautiful and divine. By our very nature, we are a spiritual success.
