NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 1483

What’s working?

It’s easy to look around and find a list of things that aren’t working. Inflation, politics, political and social unrest, international conflicts, global warming, etc. It can be concerning and at times alarming.

While this is understandable, dwelling on what isn’t working doesn’t benefit us or anyone else. Yes, we can take concrete actions to remediate problems we see. But dwelling on them in a hopeless way does nothing positive and may even attract more of what we don’t want.

Instead as a counterbalance, it can be helpful to think of all the things that are working. Our list can range from small things like a enjoying tasty lunch to big things like the recent donation of $1 billion to fund medical training at Johns Hopkins University. It may be helpful to include items that directly affect us as well as things that benefit society or the planet as a whole.

Ticking off a list of blessings daily that helps us balance pessimism with optimism. It allows us to understand that things aren’t unrelievedly bad. We can regain a sense of hope. And being grateful for what is working helps us attract more of the same. Our focus helps generate our reality.

Today’s message reminds me to be grateful for the many things that are working. Daily reality checks on pessimism can help me understand that life still is very, very good.

Please reflect and share. What is working in your world?
