Give your attention.

Sometimes we don’t know what to do for folks. They may be sick, struggling, or grieving. It can be difficult to figure out how best to help them. Gifts or money may not seem truly useful. What else might we offer?

The best gift we can present is the gift of ourselves. When we show interest in another’s welfare and a willingness to listen, we offer the most precious thing we have to give—our attention.

Validating someone and their feelings offers a chance for deep healing. We hone our compassion skills and may learn a thing or two while we’re listening.

Today’s message suggests to me that the gift of myself and my attention has true value. In giving my attention, I offer an opportunity to bring out the best in others and in myself.

Please reflect and share. How might your attention help another?
