Consistency promotes change.
Please discuss. How does this play out in life?
I’ll start us out. We all have some habits we’re good about maintaining and some we’re lax about. The regular practices we keep up with are ones we enjoy or ones with demonstrated value. The benefits of our persistent effort are evident.
Sometimes when we need to change, forming a new habit helps us transition into unknown personal territory. The continuation of a recently initiated routine reminds us of the larger shift we intend to make and—over time—helps it feel familiar and comfortable. Maintaining our habit signals our accept of the change.
Today’s message reminds me that I’ve been authoring this blog daily for a year, ever since I ceased working at my job outside the home. It’s been a year of shifts and surprises, especially with the addition of the COVID-19 wildcard. The one consistent item in each day since then has been this blog. I’ve known every day that I would need to find inspiration and write about it.
The messages received have prodded me to re-evaluate my life and inner workings. As a result, they’ve kept me moving in the direction of what I love and what matters to me, helping to refine my focus and clear my path. I blog, therefore I change.
Gentle reader, thank you for taking this journey with me!
How about you? What habit has helped usher in changes for you?
