Setbacks can be gentle nudges to get us on the best path.
Please discuss. How does this play out in life?
I’ll start us out. Sometimes we think we’re on the right path and then—boom—we hit a roadblock. It’s puzzling; it’s frustrating; we’re unsure about how to go forward. Just when we thought we had things figured out, we’re forced to rethink them.
The uncertainty is uncomfortable, but it’s also the gift in the situation. The pause in progress constrains us to reexamine a course of action that might not be as optimal as we initially had believed. We’ve been given the opportunity to take a second, deeper look at our plans. In doing so, we may find factors we hadn’t accounted for or may be shunted on a track that brings us an unexpected blessing.
Today’s message reminds me to reframe my approach to setbacks. When I use the delay to explore further options with good grace, I unlock the possibility of a more beneficial outcome. My perceived temporary difficulties hold the key to greater outcomes.
How about you: How do you view and deal with setbacks?
