Notes From The Furlough: Day 78

Pretending to be something and being something—what’s the difference? Only the inner realization.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. When we’re struggling with fear, we may wear a brave appearance, whistling through the graveyard. Wanting to appear strong and ready for a challenge, we may put on our game face. We may lock sadness and disquiet inside ourselves and show a happy front. We can anticipate success by acting as if, with our outward actions and demeanor serving to help birth that success. In all these instances, the way we present to others and the world is at odds with how we feel inside.

Today’s message reminds me that inner acceptance and belief is the key to shifting my reality. Acting as if needs to be paired with believing, thinking, and feeling as if. When my actions and appearance portray a certain state of being, and my inner beliefs, thoughts, and emotions also support that state, I’ve actualized that reality and can enjoy its manifestation. This is why self love and positive image are vital to a happy life. When I love myself, am confident in my success, and willing to accept it, the Universe will deliver.

How about you. What roles has/does acting as if play in your life?
