We are stars in training

Training to do something and doing it are the same thing. Training is just doing it in the past, from the perspective of the present.

We usually have something we want to do or someone we want to become. Often we feel that there is something we need to do or learn before we’re truly ready for our dream.  If we finish our college degree, we will be ready for our new career. When we’ve lost fifteen more pounds, we will be in good shape to begin a love relationship. After a few more months of long runs, we will be ready for a marathon.

We live in a permanent sense of incompletion. Whatever our goal is, we usually feel we’re not ready for it just yet. This leads us to feel uncertain about ourselves and our ability to achieve our desired end. Our sense of doubt and inadequacy arises from separation consciousness—the belief that we are separate from the divine and all beings and things.

When we operate from a standpoint of connection consciousness—the belief that we are innately connected to all of creation/the divine—we are aware of our completeness and perfection in every moment of our lives. We may have goals and dreams that aren’t fully realized yet, but that doesn’t make us feel incomplete. We are merely in training.

Whether we are practicing to do something for the first time or we are doing for the hundredth time, we are still doing it. From the perspective of the eternal now, we are a marathon runner whether we are on our first training run or are completing our twentieth marathon. The shift in perspective that an expansion in consciousness brings helps us to feel complete, whole, and fulfilled while we are heading toward our goals.

Let’s take a few minutes to consciously connect with our inner divinity—our sharing within—to better understand how we can enjoy our dreams while they’re still in the making.

We will start by slowing down our breath. We will allow it to become soft, even, and gentle. We also will picture our sharing within as a globe of golden light in the center of our chest. With each inhalation, the light grows strong, steady, and bright. With each exhalation, the light flows throughout us and into the world around us. We will continue the rhythmic breathing and light visualization until we sense conscious connection with our sharing within. We will feel calm, centered, and peaceful.

We will think of a dream that we currently are working toward, one that we feel is not yet complete. We’ll ask our sharing within to help us understand the thoughts and beliefs we hold which limit our enjoyment of working toward that goal. Perhaps we are planning to run our first marathon next year. Perhaps we wish we had started training earlier in our life. Perhaps we don’t feel we have enough long-distance stamina. Perhaps we doubt whether we will be ready to run twenty-six miles next year. Perhaps all these doubts stem from a feeling that we’re just not good enough.

Next we will ask our sharing within to help us reframe our current experience of working toward our dream, in a way that will allow us to feel happier and more satisfied right now. Perhaps we ran a bit further today than we did yesterday. Perhaps our body feels stronger and healthier than it did a few months ago. Perhaps we simply enjoy the sensation of moving quickly in fresh air and sunshine. Perhaps we can sense how happy we will be when we complete our first marathon, and can translate that happiness into every step we take while training. Perhaps we can simply feel good about ourselves because we’re taking positive action toward a goal.

Whatever we are shown and told by our sharing within, we can trust that the information is perfect and accurate for us. We will take a few moments to feel satisfied about where we are right now on the path toward our dream. Good things are happening every day. We live in happy expectation of more to come.
