NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 559

Truth is love.

Please reflect and share. How does this play out for you?

We often editorialize what we say, particularly in sensitive situations. We may want to please others or may be afraid to speak plainly for fear it will be hurtful or offensive. Sometimes we don’t state our thoughts and feelings because we believe they won’t be accepted or make a difference. Still other times we tell white lies to prevent pain or embarrassment.

Yet truth is a gift. Speaking truth extends trust to the listener and offers the opportunity for them to show us trust in return. Lovingly stated, truth can build and strengthen relationships.

Therein is the caveat. The truth needs to be used as a source of healing and not as a weapon. Benevolent intent and kind wording and delivery help ensure we relay our truth with love. If we’re not sure of our message or intended wording, we can use these criteria: is it kind, is it loving, is it helpful?

Today’s message advises me that lovingly expressed truth is one of the best presents I can give others. In doing so, I share myself honestly and with kindness. My truth is a gift of love.

How about you? How do you feel about expressing truth?
