Our best is perfection.
We often feel that we or others fall short of the mark. Expectations we’ve created aren’t met, and disappointment may ensue. This type of scenario can generate hard feelings and unhappiness.
If we or another truly aren’t trying at all, there may be room for improvement. However, that usually isn’t the case. Frequently we are making an effort. It just may not achieve exactly what we had hoped.
The issue here is realistic expectations of ourselves and of others. Attempts that achieve a reasonable result, for the most part, are likely good enough. Further effort may not improve the outcome appreciably.
Today’s message reminds me that an honest try is likely sufficient. When I do my best, that level of effort is perfect for me.
Please reflect and share. How do you feel about your best effort?
