Notes From The Awareness: 154

Our purpose is simple: enjoy life, share our enjoyment with others, radiate gratitude.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. Life is a mixed bag. Some things we like, some we don’t, and some we are indifferent about. It often isn’t exactly what we’d choose. Certainly at most times there are events going on that we don’t want. It’s easy to focus on the difficult parts of life. After all, often much of our energy is directed into struggling to overcome them. But the sweet parts of life are always present, too, whether or not they’re in the ascendant.

When we make a conscious effort to recognize them—a gratitude journal can be a useful exercise—our attention shifts to what we do like, what makes us happy. Creation, like any other sentient being, takes pleasure in being appreciated and rewards it. Our thankfulness for the good bits of life sets up a positive feedback loop. Sharing our enjoyment with others magnifies the effect.

Today’s message affirms for me that my life purpose isn’t some noble and difficult quest. It is rather the simple art of finding ways to be happy and grateful regardless of current life circumstances. My enjoyment and thankfulness reverberate, affecting all around me. When I love life, it makes it easier for others to do so too, and life’s love for all of us becomes more apparent. My joy enlarges the good in life.

How about you? What is your relationship with happiness?
