Notes From The Unknown: Day 108

Celebrate the blank canvas of the day.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. CVONVID-19 has imposed restrictions on our lives, casting a sense of sameness over our days. For those of us quarantining, retired, unemployed, working from home, and/or social distancing, the effect is pronounced. One day can seem to blend into another, yet one more round of the same. It falls to us to differentiate our days, to craft something enjoyable for ourselves. This has always been true, but is more so in current times. To be happy day-to-day currently requires a bit more ingenuity. Yet this is the only life we have—right now—and we own how we create it.

Today’s message reminds me that I choose how I fill the span of this day. The activities I engage in are elective. I may feel obliged to undertake some of them, but it is entirely my decision. How I mentally frame what I do, setting the tone for how I perceive and receive, is also a choice. I can drudge through a list of to do’s, lose myself in social media or Netflix, reach out to a friend, engage in a favored hobby, exercise or get out in nature, or any combination I wish (within current COIVD-19 restraints), imbuing each experience with the mindset I desire. I paint the picture of my day, and it is a self-portrait of my inner state.

How about you? How do you create your day?
