Notes From The Furlough: Day 28

Isolation is instructive.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. Social distancing has left me, and I suspect most of us, feeling a bit adrift. I’m not getting together with friends; I’m no interacting in person with coworkers; friendly chit chat no longer occur in line at the grocery store. I miss feeling closely connected with others (beyond Nate and the cats).

Today’s message echoes a lesson my Tonkinese cat wished to impart prior to his passing: “You need to learn to love me without my body.” I’m reminded that the most intimate connection exists intrinsically between me and anything and everything else in creation. The issue is not isolation. The issue is my lapse in recognizing connection at the most basic divine level. While this may seem theoretical, quantum entanglement—research on the internet if you aren’t familiar with this fascinating topic—proves its existence. We are tightly coupled with other expressions of reality, even at great distances. I simply need to remember this essential principle and strengthen my sense of connection in non-physical ways. For me, meditation and well-wishing are in order.

How about you? How do you foster connection during isolation?
