Notes From The Furlough: Day 16

Thinking about what you want is more powerful and life-affirming than thinking about what you don’t want.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. Each morning before I left for work, I would mentally and verbally bless my house and yard—Nate, me cats, plants, critters, elements, energies, things. Then I’d tell the cats when to expect me home and leave for the day. Once I started working from home daily, I fell out of the habit. Now furloughed, I read the news, with all the focus on COVID-19 havoc, each morning. Today, I’m reminded I can make a different choice. I can choose to focus on mentally and verbally blessing our planet in all its constituent parts with love, health, happiness, safety, clarity, compassion, congeniality, compatibility, balance, beauty, appreciation and well-being. This takes only a few minutes and shifts my attention and energy toward what I want. The practice feels good and empowering, and I can repeat as often as I wish or need throughout the day.

How about you? How do you keep your focus on nurturing what you want?
