Notes From The Awareness: 311

Modeling one’s values builds integrity.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. In these polarized times, it’s easy to be vocal about what others should or shouldn’t do. We make judgments, often publicly, and proceed to live our lives, mostly privately. Sometimes what we do or don’t do isn’t in line with what we’ve opined.

We may or may not be aware of this inconsistency. If we are, we likely have justified the lapse(s). “It was just the once.” “I was by myself, so my actions didn’t affect anyone directly.” “I had good reasons for my exception to my rule.” We find ways to feel it’s okay to have circumvented our values.

Today’s message reminds me of the importance of living my life by the standards I espouse. Either I cease judging others’ behavior or I must be willing to live by the principles I wish others to embody. Following both course of action is recommended for me. Living authentic to the truths I revere will keep me in integrity.

How about you? How easy is it for you to walk your talk?
