NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 705

Life is a dress rehearsal.

Many of us struggle to wring meaning from our daily lives. Things, so many things, occur that may seem senseless or hard to accept. In the face of this, we may find it difficult to live with purpose.

We want to do the right things for the right reasons, but it can feel like everyday life gets in the way. We make poor choices or mistakes. Unexpected issues drop up, derailing our intended actions. It may seem like our existence is a botched version of what we might wish it to be.

We forget that life, this life, is a dress rehearsal. We are figuring things out as we go along. Forgotten lines and missed cues will occur. We may trip over items on the set or miss our mark for important soliloquys.

We likely won’t get everything right until our very last performance. And that’s okay. At the final curtain call, we will be perfection. We will have gotten it right in the end and can move on to well-deserved applause. All our effort and struggles will have paid off. Our performance will be complete.

Today’s message reminds me that my performance in life is evolving. All I need to do is interpret my lines and as it feels right in the moment, with generous ad libs.

Please reflect and share. Do you feel the need to get everything right in the moment?
