NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 909

Make your health a priority.

It’s easy to get busy and let self-care fall off our radar. We get caught up in mental (or physical) to-do lists and skip doing what we need to do to support our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

We may not pay attention to eating and drinking healthy things, getting enough sleep and exercise, engaging in fulfilling solitary and communal activities, and tending to our spiritual connection. Although we know these things should be important to us, we may have a tendency to let them slide.

We may somehow believe we will function okay no matter how much we neglect caring for ourselves. And simply muscling on may work for a while. But eventually the deficit of self-support will leave us ill, stressed, and/or disaffected. We can’t serve ourselves up without refilling our personal reservoir.

Although we are spiritual beings having a physical existence, we cannot have a long or happy life without honoring our physical spiritual container—ourselves. If we want to have our best lives and help others to do so too, it’s imperative that we have solid self-care routines.

There isn’t a magic formula for this routine. It just has to be one that works for us and addresses all aspects of our being—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. If we’re new to regular self-care, it may take a bit of time to find the healthy mix for us. We’ll know when we’ve got it right when we feel good and feel good about ourselves.

Today’s message invites me to beef up my self-care routine even further. I’ll have a happier and more fulfilling life when I tend to myself regularly and with love.

Please reflect and share. How is your self-care routine?
