Small talk keeps us small.

We all engage in polite, light-duty conversation at times. The weather, sports, TV and movies, and public figures are popular topics. We discourse on these matters, but share little of ourselves in the process.

Intimate conversation deals with our beliefs, dreams, and deep thoughts. When we share ourselves in this way with others, we create meaningful interactions. We converse about what truly matters to us.

Today’s message invites me to limit my use of small talk to only when it is really necessary. In sharing myself intimately, I give a gift to the world. In hearing others when they share their innermost selves, I learn and grow my perspective.

Please reflect and share. Do you like engaging in small talk?
