NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 589

Releasing expectations, we stress less.

Please reflect and share. How does this play out for you?

We often anticipate how things might work out. Whether we imagine favorable or unfavorable outcomes, we usually have an idea in mind of what we hope or fear might occur.

This imagining of future situations can be a source of unhappiness and strain. If we expect good results and they don’t happen as wished for, we suffer disappointment. Dreading the worst causes us to be trepidatious and wary even before an event takes place. Often the result is not as bad as we feared.

Today’s message reminds me of the pitfalls of holding ideas about the future. The less I have expectations, the less I stress in advance and the the more I can accept what does occur. Being open to whatever evolves, I find happiness in what is and will be.

How about you? Do you tend to have expectations?
