Improvement is rarely a straight-line path.
Please reflect and share. How does this play out for you?
We all have situations we’d like to be different. In many cases we’re injecting personal effort, looking to experience improvement. Often the issue may be of longer duration—for example, recovery from a serious illness. As we apply steady energy, we hope to see regular, even progress. That doesn’t always happen. The advances may occur in fits and starts with pauses or even backsliding in between. It can be disheartening.
During a plateau, we may even be tempted to give up. However, in order to move the the next state in improvement, there likely is some sort of critical mass that needs to be achieved. It usually required our sustained effort to be reached. It’s important to keep faith in eventual success, trust the process, continue trying, and have patience. An eventual sudden positive shift is likely to surprise us.
Today’s message suggests I hold my goals close to my heart and have confidence in their inevitability. In feeling good about eventual success, I can enjoy the path along the way, even when things may seem stalled. My trust, confidence, and patience release barriers.
How about you? How do you feel about plateaus?
