NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 364

Imagining good to come helps us enjoy it right now.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. We all have dreams particular to each of our natures and desires. Sometimes we picture their realization in detail. It feels good to anticipate our wishes fulfilled. This imagining can be beneficial to us in two separate ways.

When we focus on a goal or desire intensely and in depth, we are calling on both the power of our minds and of our emotions. Our thoughts distinctly communicate what we want to creation, generating an order to be fulfilled. Our feelings add power and emphasis to the dispatch. We send a message to the universe, loud and clear.

While we are visualizing our dream, the mind processes and registers its particulars. Scientific studies have shown that eating an apple and imagining eating and apple activate our brain in identical ways. So when we picture a desired outcome with detail and intensity, in essence we can experience what is to come, in advance. Correctly done, visualization allows us to enjoy the experience of our dream outcome right now while also ensuring its future realization.

Today’s message reminds me of the power of visualization—both to generate a desired outcome in the future and to savor it in the present. Gratitude for my imagined dream fulfilled will amplify the effectiveness of my visualization and add sweetness to the experience of imagining it in the moment. Why not feel happy and fulfilled about my dreams right now?

How about you? Do you enjoy visualizing your dreams?

For a quick exercise in this type of imagining, please see the Practical Exploration section of Chapter 23 in my book The Sharing: The Owner’s Manual for Being Human. Thanks!
