Notes From The Unknown: Day 110

Preparing ourselves mentally for something involves bringing our insides out.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. With the shakeups 2020 has delivered, many of us will be trying new and potentially challenging things. We may be job hunting, downsizing our living circumstances, tightening up our finances, taking advantage of low interest rates to buy a home, adjusting to a change in health, shifting careers or into early retirement. Whatever our individual circumstances, it’s likely we’re facing some sort of change that we didn’t anticipate at the beginning of the year.

For the most part, we’re trying to handle the situation gracefully. We plan as best we can, perhaps listing out pros, cons, and to-dos, and try to get our conscious minds sorted and our focus positive, to alter our lives. In doing so, we may trip over ourselves if we don’t take into account our inner, subconscious selves. Our self beliefs—the overarching script we have about how we relate to life—and our emotions are influencers, whether or not we are aware of the fact. To be effective, all parts of us, conscious and subconscious, thought,s beliefs, and feelings, need to be aligned with our intent. Personal review via meditation, prayer, self awareness exercises, etc., will help us marshal our complete selves in service of our goal.

Today’s message reminds me to look inside for ways in which I might unconsciously sabotage my stated objectives. When I honor all portions of myself, even the uncomfortable ones, with my nonjudgmental attention, I can engage their input and cooperation in making the desired adjustments in my life. I need all of me in harmony to do my best.

How about you? How do you use all aspects of yourself to your best advantage?
