NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 922

Everything with ease.

The winter holiday season seems to be synonymous with stress. There is so much we want to do or that we or others feel we should do. And there is only about a month in which to get it all accomplished.

We want to get it all done perfectly and have high expectations for ourselves, likely impossible ones. When we struggle or feel tired or resentful, we are hard on ourselves. This is supposed to be a joyous time of the year, right?

Some of the stress occurs because we associate the outward trappings—presents, decorations, greeting cards, holiday treats, parties—with the emotional and spiritual significance of the holidays. What could be a time of peaceful reflection and opening our hearts to goodwill instead becomes a mad dash of activities.

Today’s message reminds me that I’m supposed to feel joyful around the holidays. If what I’m trying to accomplish doesn’t feel good, easy, peaceful, and happy, perhaps I don’t really need to do it. More ease, less bustle!

Please reflect and share. How could you allow more ease into your holiday season?
