Always enough

Most of us worry about having enough, particularly enough money, from time to time. It’s the common present-day version of survival fear, if we’re not living in dangerous circumstances.

Unexpected expenses can and will crop up, sometimes many in a short timeframe. Living costs continue to rise. We can have income fall-backs. On paper, it can potentially lead to a shortfall of financial resources.

This was the case for Nate and I in the last months. Outgoing expenses for the end of April looked like they would exceed incoming income by an uncomfortable margin.

I was concerned—I do the budget—and expressed my worry to Nate. He is more sanguine about finances than I am. After a week or so of fretting, I decided that worrying wasn’t going to make cash magically appear.

Perhaps trust would. Each day, I visualized having more than enough money to meet our needs and wants.

Then I received a generous cash gift. (Thank you!) I felt a little better. It accounted for about half of the shortfall. Perhaps the rest would somehow appear by the end of the month. I kept visualizing.

Nate’s work suddenly got busier. Mine did too, at about double the usual rate or more. When I did the end of the month budget today, it should have been no surprise to me that we somehow had just a little bit more than what was needed to pay all of our bills timely.

Today’s message reminds me that there will always be enough of whatever I need if I’m willing to believe it will be there. I make it easier for Creation to serve abundance up to me if I don’t script how it will arrive. Somehow, there will always be plenty.

Please reflect and share. Do you believe you will always have enough?
