NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 435

Loss helps us appreciate what we do have.

Please reflect and share. How does this play out for you?

Loss can be gut wrenching and heart breaking. It’s easy to get trapped in the hole left by what is no longer there. Sunk in pain, it’s hard to see what is left all around us.

But if we allow loss to sharpen our vision and look past what is gone, we can see the rest of life with renewed clarity. Losing something or someone heightens our ability to recognize what we still have. The good all around us and within us can be magnified by the pain of loss, if we allow it.

Today’s message reminds me that the crack in me caused by sorrow also opens me to feel love more fully. The experience of a loss holds within itself the key to healing the associated pain. I honor what is gone and give meaning to my loss by using it to intensify my gratitude for what I do have.

How about you?: How do you give meaning to your losses?
