NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 453

Losses make room for gains.

Please reflect and share. How does this play out for you?

We’ve all experienced loss. Sometimes it’s relatively minor and sometimes it’s soul-searing. Regardless of the magnitude, loss leaves an empty space in our lives.

It can be challenging to learn to live with loss. The hole it leaves is painful and can be a near-constant reminder of who or what is gone. It feels like nothing can ever replace what we’ve lost. And it can’t, not exactly. What’s gone is gone. But the loss also also creates an opening, not for a replacement, but for other opportunities.

Today’s message is courtesy of my cat Orion, who passed earlier this month. He invites me to find the silver lining in the cloud of loss. I can’t turn back the clock and regain what is past. But I can use the gap loss has created in my life as a chance to learn and explore. The space in me that Orion’s loss has carved out is waiting to be filled with wonder and potential. He wants me to use the opportunity to gain.

How about you? How have your losses affected you?
