Everything has meaning

Receiving messages from Spirit is not something we have to learn how to do. Every bit of our lives is a message from Spirit. We only have to keep an open mind and pay attention.

Life often is a mystery to us. We wish it came with an instruction manual. We long for information to clarify life events. We hope somehow we’ll get a message that helps us make sense of it all.

Some of us recognize that we receive hints and clues from Spirit. For those of us that do, we often wish the flow of information was more consistent and reliable. For those of us that don’t seem to get messages from Spirit, it may seem we’re left out in the cold. We may work with a psychic or read inspirational books, hoping that we’ll get the one right insight that reveals our path and purpose.

Here’s the one message we all need to hear: Every bit of our lives is a message from Spirit. In cooperation with our inner divinity—our sharing within—every event in our lives is generated by the sharing for our benefit. Through the power of serendipity—expansion of our physical consciousness through seemingly random occurrences—we all experience exactly what we need most to have the opportunity to recognize the shared divinity of all existence.

In this way, every single thing that happens to us represents a message and an opportunity. Our personal free will allows us to accept or reject this truth. Should we choose to accept it, we simply need to pay attention to what goes on in and around us, to make sense of the messages.

A missed turn while driving can serve to remind us that we need to keep our eyes and mind open for opportunities. An overheard conversation may present a piece of information we need. Patterns in clouds may provide a clue needed to interpret events. Our pets may act out dramatic events in our lives. Song lyrics may offer insight into our current circumstances.

The sharing is endlessly inventive and creative, and it finds numerous and amusing ways to give messages to us. When we see the fun in interpreting what we experience, we enjoy life more and find pleasure in its richness and variety.

Let’s spend a few minutes in conscious connection with our sharing within, to explore how this might work. We will begin by calming our mind by relaxing our breath. We will allow our breathing to become slow, steady, and even. As we do so, we’ll feel our daily worries and cares dissipate. We will picture our sharing within as a sphere of golden light in the center of our chest.

Each inhalation feeds the sphere so that it glows brightly. Each exhalation spreads the golden light through every cell of our body and out into our surroundings. We will continue the relaxed breathing and light visualization until we sense calm, certainty, and balance filling us, signaling conscious connection with our sharing within.

Now we’ll ponder the past day and randomly pick one chance occurrence. Whatever comes to mind first is perfect for our purposes. Perhaps we saw a raccoon taking garbage out of a dumpster. Perhaps we noticed low air pressure in one of our car’s tires. Perhaps nearly everyone we met seemed to be wearing an article of green clothing—and it wasn’t Saint Patrick’s Day.

We will consciously engage our connection with our sharing within and re-examine our chosen event. What were we doing when the event occurred? What emotions did we feel at the time? Does the event remind us of anything else? We’ll look for clues.

Perhaps we were going to the bank when we noticed the raccoon. Perhaps we found the raccoon’s antics amusing. Perhaps the raccoon reminded us of a favorite aunt who was a great re-purposer. In this instance, the message may be that we can benefit financially by looking for gains in unexpected ways. Something that might ordinarily seem useless or futile to us may provide unforeseen financial benefits in delightful ways.

Perhaps we were rushing to work when we noticed low air pressure in the car tire. Perhaps the occurrence seemed like one more time-consuming annoyance in an already crowded day. Perhaps review of the event shows us that, just like the tire, we’re low on air. We might have been holding tension in our chest and forgetting to breathe deeply and fully. The message may be that we need to take proper care of our physical needs in order to move forward in life smoothly.

Perhaps we spent the day driving from one building to another. Perhaps we found this round of errands exhausting and frustrating. Perhaps the various hues of green clothing reminded us of forest in spring—the light greens of unfurling leaves and the darker shades of conifers. The message may be that we need some green time to rejuvenate our body and spirit. Walking in the woods may be exactly what we need to replenish our energy.

However we interpret our chosen event with the help of our sharing within, we can trust that the message is correct and accurate for us. We are grateful that life has chosen inventive ways to catch our attention. What fun it is to explore the mystery of life!
