NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 523

Work and play are concepts.

Please reflect and share. How does this play out for you?

Most of us would admit to working more and playing less. And most of us wish that ratio was different. We likely spend more time working than playing, making our lives less fun.

Work is distinguished by activities we have or need to do. Play is characterized by things we want to or enjoy doing. Ideally, our careers are largely filled with the latter.

Certainly we can examine the list of items we feel we should do and replace some of them with pleasurable pursuits. We can also reframe our attitude toward must-do activities to remove resentment and other emotional baggage, making them more neutral and less onerous.

Today’s message reminds me that I decide what is work and what is play. To keep a healthy balance, I can ensure I engage in enough joyful pastimes. I also can shift my attitude toward tasks I cannot avoid. I get to choose how much fun I have in life!

How about you? What defines work versus fun for you?
