NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 649

Begin again, and again, and again.

We have a tendency to want things to go perfectly on the first try. Our society is success-oriented, and we may feel ashamed if we need numerous attempts to make something work well. We likely feel even worse if we fail completely.

This is because we are focused on the outcome and not the experience. If we need repeated efforts to get something right or even if success eludes us completely, we still have gained. We’ve learned—about the subject or situation at hand and also about ourselves—and developed skills and understanding. We are a better person for trying, even if we the outcome was a complete bust.

Today’s message encourages me to dare to try things whose success is not guaranteed. Being willing to risk and fail makes me stronger, wiser, and more flexible.

Please reflect and share. How do you feel if you need to begin anew?
