Notes From The Furlough: Day 57

Petty details are just that, petty details.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. Life seems to be a series of major events or themes, strung together and comprised of lots of smaller things. In day-to-day existence, we’re mostly dealing with subsidiary concerns—things like minor illness or injuries, kids not doing homework, lost cell phones, increases in food or gas prices. They’re not issues we can afford to ignore and need to be handled timely, but we don’t want to get hung up on them, either.

Today’s message reminds me that most situations facing me aren’t crises, they just need to be taken care of without fretting or overthinking. If I make a decision I find I regret later, I likely will have the opportunity to choose again. I will be happier and more effective if I invest less of myself in small issues. This way lies greater peace of mind.

How about you? How do you cope with petty details?
