Rest, just rest
We’re a society focused on accomplishment. Results are rewarded, however usually only specific, desired results.
This culture impels us to keep moving and doing. We may feel guilty or unworthy if we take a break. Continuous activity may seem to be required to feel successful.
But pauses are vital. They create music and rhythm. Pauses allow us time to think and review things. And most importantly, they allow us to rest.
Without rest, we get stale and worn out. We aren’t capable of our best effort. We feel stressed and lackluster. We need rest as biological beings.
Then why do we fool ourselves into thinking we can function as mechanical robots? Why do we feel guilty about resting when we need or wish to do so.
Separation consciousness can have us believing we are separate and alone, disconnected from the divine. This belief leaves us feeling broken and incomplete. We may feel the need to strive to prove we’re not, all the while still believing that we’re unworthy.
Today’s message encourages me to rest regularly, and especially if I need to, even if I may not understand why. My body knows what it needs. When I listen to it, I honor my connection to the divine.
Please reflect and share. What is your relationship with rest?
