Notes From The Unknown: Day 105

Allowing ourselves to wander, we find unexpected treasure.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. We tend to think it’s important to be productive. We make lists and get a sense of accomplishment by ticking items off. We look for the most efficient way to perform tasks and the straightforward way to get from point A to point B. We try not to deviate from our plans to get things done, not wanting to waste time.

In all our busyness, we forget the importance of unscheduled time and doing nothing. Plants are absorb light during the day, but at night, in the dark, they convert carbon into energy. They need the down time to prosper. Similarly out bodies heal and restore themselves while we sleep. We need to rest to be healthy. When we are occupied with scheduled tasks, we may accomplish all that we hope to, but will miss out on the magical power of serendipity.

Today’s message reminds me that I’ve been too productive recently. I’ve accomplished a goodly number of items on my list, but have failed to take time to dream and drift, to wander mentally and physically. If I allow myself unplanned hours, I leave room for the the quantum field and my subconscious mind to surprise me with something wonderful. I’m overdue to do nothing!

How about you? How do you make room in your life for unexpected treasure?
