Notes From The Furlough: Day 51

Friends teach us how to be kind to ourselves.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. COVID-19 has given us more free time and less ability to get together with others, particularly friends. It’s made us more aware of the value of connection. As a result, we’re more mindful of reaching out to and caring for others. This is one of the positive effects of the virus; it’s made us kinder and more compassionate to friends.

Today’s message reminds me that I’m often harder on myself than I would be toward others. I may overlook flaws in friends that I would judge harshly in myself. I also may be more willing to nurture others than myself. I’m blessed to have loving friends and family. I can use them as role models. It’s time to be more caring, compassionate, and supportive of myself. I am my own best friend!

How about you? Are you good at honoring yourself with kindness?
