Kindness is effective
Many of us may feel we need to be strong and decisive to be successful. We may be stern with ourselves and others, hoping to bring out the best in all of us.
Gentleness often doesn’t enter into this mindset. We may see this trait as weak or unfocused, with emphasis on feeling rather than doing. The softness of kindness may seem to encourage stasis rather than growth.
In fact, the reverse is true. A plant that is nurtured and given adequate water, light, and fertilizer will grow and produce more. Add caring attention to that formula, and the results are even better. Studies show that plants respond to love, respect, and consideration positively.
The same is true of our interactions with any species. When we’re gentle and kind, offering love and nurturing, whether to ourselves or to others, things shift in a desirable way.
Recipients of kindness feel safe and validated. They’re willing to open up and dare more in life, because kindness has lifted them up and given them strength and confidence.
Today’s message reminds me that the path to good things for others and for myself is strewn with kindness. When I’m willing to be gentle with myself and others, good things happen.
Please reflect and share. Do you feel kindness is effective?
