NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 433

Nothing is sometimes a fine thing to do.

We’re conditioned to be busy. We have goals, quotas, and to-do lists. At work and in our personal lives, whether externally or internally motivated, we’re pushed to be productive.

Being regularly busy, we don’t allow ourselves much time to simply be. Our identities are wrapped up in what we do and achieve rather than in who we are. We may not even feel comfortable doing nothing. Total relaxation may induce guilt.

Today’s message reminds me it is okay and even advisable to indulge in indolence. When I’m quiet and unfocused, my soul’s voice doesn’t have to compete with the chatter of doing and accomplishing. In freeing myself from busyness, I allow my true self to run wild.

How about you? How do you feel about doing nothing?
