Notes From The Awareness: 285

Do what you enjoy and be grateful.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. Our collective mood has been dark and serious of recent. Troubling events have taken place and we’re concerned more yet may occur. A state of anticipatory dread hangs over us.

In our preoccupation with matters political and pandemic, it’s easy to lose sight of the rest of life. We have friends, families, pets, and hobbies, but we’ve likely skimped on our attention to them in the horror and fascination of current events. Our focus on the awful has made us blind to the wonderful.

Today’s message reminds me to carve out daily time for joy. Whether or not the political crisis resolves the way I might wish, the rest of my life will hopefully still be there. In uncertain times, it’s wise to treasure who and what I have in the current moment. Devoting myself to creative and happy pursuits will help dispel the shadow of somber times. Being grateful for the good in my life will attract more of the same to me. I’m in charge of curating my own happiness.

How about you? What can you do to bring some joy into every day?
