Notes From The Furlough: Day 67

Difficulties, like starlight, are a source of illumination.

Please discuss. How does this play out in life?

I’ll start us out. 2020 has been a challenging year so far. We’ve been impacted on so many levels: health, finances, relationships and friendships, social structure. Sometimes it feels like there is more that is broken than not. All of these issues shine a spotlight on the need for change—in how we support public health and prepare for health crises, how we make sure basic needs are met and protect our economy and infrastructure in difficult times, how we relate to each other during hardship and isolation, how we work toward a society in which all are treated fairly, equally, and with respect. The issues being brought to our attention have broader scale solutions, but we each have an individual role to play.

Today’s message shows me I can address these problems within my personal sphere of influence. I can: 1. Be mindful of and take positive actions to promote and protect my own health and others’. 2. Ensure I use my own financial and other resources wisely and responsibly and assist others as I am able. 3. Keep my friendships and relationships fresh and healthy by reaching out to others and being kind and accepting. 4. Help build a more benevolent society by reducing any tendency to judge others, recognizing all that exists as divinely interconnected and therefore perfect, protecting others who are being disrespected or hurt, and supporting social change for the benefit of all. 2020 is shining a light on where I can grow and improve.

How about you? What messages have the events of 2020 held for you?
