Hope builds us up
Sometimes we’re not certain what to think and believe. Events may be confusing, we may receive mixed messages, or outcomes may appear uncertain.
It’s easy to let fear grip us in these circumstances. The unknown can feel scary.
But fear doesn’t make us stronger. It generally disempowers us and may prevent us from acting resolutely.
Cautiousness may be warranted in some cases. Being blithely optimistic could lead us to foolhardy choices. But caution can still be blended with hope. We can be careful and yet anticipate the best.
Hope is trust in the essential goodness of life. Yes, not everything will turn out as we may desire all the time. But hope helps us feel that, in general, things can and will be okay and possibly much better than okay.
Hope comforts us through difficult times and helps us feel stronger. It gives us confidence in our ability to create a good life for ourselves. Hope helps us be happier right now.
Today’s message invites me to make sure I’m hopeful in some way each day. When hope inhabits me, I’m in the best of company.
Please reflect and share. Are you generally hopeful?
